Biography

Tanner Schudlich (he/they) comes to the Department of Aerospace Engineering as the new DEI and Outreach Coordinator, as well as a recent MSW graduate of the University of Michigan School of Social Work. His work has focused on community change with particular interests in collective grief and loss. While in his MSW program, Tanner was the host of Under Supervision, a podcast that explored the role of social workers in Higher Education.

Prior to his time at the University of Michigan, Tanner worked in the Departments of Linguistics, Languages, & Cultures and Romance & Classical Studies at Michigan State University where he provided administrative support for several graduate programs. While at MSU, Tanner also designed and hosted several workshops on topics including burnout, value-guided living, navigating grief, and mindfulness for professional staff.

When Tanner isn’t working, he can be found cooking, practicing film photography, writing, or playing with his cat named Cannoli.

Advice for new students: Trying new things and talking to new people can be scary, but we learn and grow the most when we are open to challenges and differences.
