Aerospace Professor Carlos Cesnik receives ASME Best Paper Award
Aerospace Professor Carlos Cesnik has received an American Society of Mechanical Engineers Best Paper Award for his publication, “Efficient Modeling of Nonlinear Scattering of Ultrasonic Guided Waves from Fatigue Cracks using Local Interaction Simulation Approach.”
Professor Cesnik and his co-investigator and former postdoctoral fellow, Assistant Professor Yanfeng Shen, have developed a highly efficient modeling technique for studying nonlinear scattering of ultrasonic guided waves from fatigue damage that can be used to improve Structural Health Monitoring systems. Their findings were presented at the 2016 ASME’s International Mechanical Engineering Congress and Exposition (IMECE) in Phoenix, Arizona. The award will be presented at the 2017 IMECE Conference in November.
Aerospace Engineering Professor
