Department of Aerospace Engineering alumni sweep two-thirds of alumni awards

Two distinguished Department of Aerospace Engineering alumni are honored by the Michigan Engineering Alumni Board.

The Department of Aerospace Engineering is proud to announce that department alumni have swept two of the three CoE Alumni Awards for 2020 given by the Michigan Engineering Alumni Board, honoring alumni who have contributed substantially to their field. Aisha Bowe, BSAE ’08 and MSE ’09, has been named Outstanding Recent Alumna, and Corey Booker, BSAE ’94 and MSAE ’95, has been awarded for Distinguished Alumni Service.

Bowe is a prominent industry leader thanks to her position at NASA Ames Research Center in AST Flight and Fluid Mechanics and is the founder and CEO of STEMBoard, a technology solutions company that deals with technology problems for the government and the private-sector, as well as supporting African American women in the STEM field through STEM camps, partnerships with historically black colleges and universities and providing career opportunities for young people. Aisha joined the University of Michigan Aerospace Department Industry Advisory Board in 2019.

Brooker is currently the Lead Systems Integrator between Orion and the Space Launch System (SLS) and is recognized for his work in aerospace engineering. He is a long standing member of the University of Michigan Aerospace Department Industry Advisory Board, and is the Founder and Chair of the UMich Aerospace Engineering Alumni Society. He is also notable as a UMich donor, a mentor and coach for the College of Engineering, and an active participant and coach for the highly popular Aerospace Day, and is a reviewer for the Eng 100 Blimp and ENG 200 Design/Build/Test Reviews and competitions.
