Written by: Michigan Aerospace Engineering

June 24, 2016

Congratulations to Professor Daniel J. Inman, Aerospace Engineering Department Chair and Clarence “Kelly” Johnson Professor, for being honored as a Fellow with the Society of Experimental Mechanics.

Daniel J. Inman, Professor of Aerospace Engineering

Such a title is given only to a distinguished few. Inman was nominated by such accomplished engineers for his trailblazing research, his publications and editing, and his work educating the next generation of researchers. In 2017, he will be honored at the SEM Annual Conference and Exposition on Experimental and Applied Mechanics in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Inman’s research focuses on applying smart structures to solve aerospace engineering problems, including energy harvesting, structural health monitoring, vibration suppression, and morphing aircraft. During his career, he has published eight books and hundreds of papers and has graduated 62 Ph.D. students and supervised over 75 M.S. degrees. Both as a researcher and professor, his work is well-known and appreciated by many.

Please join us in celebrating Professor Daniel Inman’s achievement in becoming a Society of Experimental Mechanics Fellow. To read more about his research and career, please visit his faculty page.
