Joaquim R.R.A. Martins elected as AIAA Fellow

Michigan Aerospace congratulates Professor Joaquim R.R.A. Martins on his election as an AIAA Fellow

Professor Joaquim R.R.A. Martins has been elected AIAA Fellow. The fellowship is given to AIAA members who “have earned the respect and gratitude of the aerospace community for their dedication, creativity and contribution to better understanding our world in terms of its limits and how we can push past those boundaries.” 

Joaquim Martins, Professor of Aerospace Engineering

Professor Martins joined the University in 2009. He leads the Multidisciplinary Optimization Laboratory, which develops methods to optimize aircraft configurations. He recently won the 2019 Best Applied Aerodynamics Paper from the AIAA and was elected fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society, the British professional organization analogous to the AIAA.
