Opinion: How To Achieve Diverse And Inclusive Advanced Air Mobility
University of Michigan Aerospace Professor Ella Atkins proposes migration to autonomous cloud-based data management systems capable of coordinating flight plans as the solution to implementing AAM safely.
Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) is the future. In addition to commercial airplanes, we can expect small unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) to entertain, midsize UAS to carry out package deliveries, and large air taxis to become fully autonomous to transport pedestrians short distances. Yet this diverse traffic mix will pose challenges as pilots navigate the three-dimensional intersecting routes for all the new aircraft sharing the sky. University of Michigan Aerospace Professor Ella Atkins proposes migration to autonomous cloud-based data management systems capable of coordinating flight plans as the solution to implementing AAM safely. Read about her take on AAM in her opinion article published in Aviation Week, “How To Achieve Diverse And Inclusive Advanced Air Mobility”.
