Congratulations U-M Aerospace Engineering instructional aide and undergraduate student, Maia Herrington on being awarded the 2021 Charles F. Barth, Jr. Prize!
University of Michigan Engineering sophomore, Maia Herrington has been awarded the 2021 Charles Barth Jr. Prize from the College of Engineering. The award is presented to an outstanding sophomore who has demonstrated academic excellence, leadership qualities, and outstanding contributions to the University and their community.
Maia has played an active role in the Engineering community over her academic career. In the past year, she has served as Vice President of Michigan Autonomous Aerial Vehicles (MAAV) where she organized and led team design reviews, improved team efficiency, and helped lead circuit board fabrication as a member of the circuits team segment. In addition, she has been working as a Research Assistant in the Michigan eXploration Laboratory under the advisorship of Associate Professor James Cutler. This year, she has also begun a role as an Instructional Aide to AEROSP 495: Systems Engineering Leadership, taught by Professor of Practice George Halow, for which she has helped develop content on several model-based systems engineering (MBSE) labs as well as a physical lab space to support MBSE lab sequence and student project teams’ work throughout the year despite COVID restrictions. Maia Herrington is a sophomore in the College of Engineering majoring in Computer Engineering. She is involved with Women in Aeronautical and Astronautical (WAA) as well as Women in Electrical and Computer Engineering (WECE).
