Applicants who attended a non-US (international) institution and non-US citizens have particular requirements for the admissions process which are noted below. For a complete picture please read Aero’s admissions’ policies and the application process .
On the online application, note the name exactly as it appears on the passport. If the name appears a different way on a transcript or test report, then include this name in the “Other Names” section. These measures help all application materials to be properly matched with the correct application.
International students must show English language proficiency through English language test scores or completion of a degree at an english-only institution.
Scores are valid for two years.
Applicants who have earned or will earn a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an institution where the language of instruction is English exclusively, are exempt from submitting English test scores. An official transcript from an institution in the United States is sufficient proof (provided that all of your undergraduate education was at US institutions).
Rackham Admissions is the U-M office that will prepare immigration documents for international students. Please look for emails from Rackham Graduate school and note deadlines.
The Aerospace Engineering department emails a student notifying them that they have been recommended for admission to a graduate program. Then the student notifies the Graduate Student Admissions Coordinator, Kathy Miller of their decision to accept or decline the admission.
Rackham reviews Aero’s applicants recommended for admission to ensure that minimum requirements are met, including the submission of an official transcript. After Rackham has approved admission, the applicant will receive an official email from Rackham inviting them to accept their offer in Wolverine Access. This may occur several days after receiving an email offer from Aero.
After Rackham approves an international applicant’s admission, the student will receive an email from Rackham requesting that they upload financial documents in Wolverine Access. Do not submit any financial information until requested to do so by Rackham. The financial documents may be upload in several files.
Rackham will prepare your immigration document (I-20 or DS-2019) using the U.S. Government SEVIS system. You will be able to review your immigration information and track the progress of your immigration document on the “View I-20 or DS-2019 Status” link in Wolverine Access.
