Biography

Khris is the Research Administration Manager for Aerospace and has been with the department since April 2020. As the RA Manager, she leads the research office including the RA team and research procedures. She also provides direct pre-award and post-award support for research faculty, ensuring their financial portfolios are well managed and spent according to UM and sponsor guidelines. On any given day, she may create a proposal budget, review and approve purchases, submit effort changes for faculty, staff, and students, to list just a few possibilities. As a member of the research and finance team, Khris works closely with Aero faculty and with many UM units including human resources, student services, purchasing, contract administration, and office of research and sponsored projects.

Khris has been at the University of Michigan since 2017. She began in LSA, and transferred to the College of Engineering in 2020. Prior to UM, Khris dedicated her career to the nonprofit world, in particular, with agencies providing basic need assistance. From 2004-2016, she was the executive director of a non-profit housing corporation and was also the chair of the Lenawee County Continuum, where she was responsible for all state and federal housing grants for the county.

Khris earned a Bachelor of Arts with a concentration in Psychology from Siena Heights University in her hometown of Adrian, Michigan. She has continued to pursue education by completing several graduate level courses and has participated in numerous training opportunities, most recently completing the PEERRS certification at UM.

Outside of work, you will find Khris rescuing animals in distress with a dream of starting her own cat sanctuary one day. She loves warm/hot weather but tends to hibernate during the Michigan cold winters!
