Stephen McGillivary is the director of Structures Technology for Boeing Research and Technology. 

Over the course of his 23 years at The Boeing Company, his career has included airframe engineering work spanning most of the company’s product lines. McGillivary’s most memorable roles have included the X-45A demonstrators, now on display at the USAF Museum and the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum, modernization of the F-15, and several prototype projects for the company’s Phantom Works division.  

His research interests include using multidisciplinary approaches to greatly reduce total aircraft weight and methods to decrease the time from initial conceptual design to customer operation of air vehicles. McGillivary is a member of AIAA and an active volunteer for youth and STEM-related activities.

He received a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Business Administration from Washington University in St. Louis. McGillivary received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan. During his time at the University of Michigan, he was a member of the Solar Car Team.
