Congratulations to Aerospace Professor Daniel Inman, who recently gave a plenary lecture at the 9th ECCOMAS Thematic Conference on Smart Structures and Materials (SMART 2019) in Paris, France from July 8-11.

Daniel J. Inman, Professor of Aerospace Engineering

The Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Intelligent Material Systems and Structures, Professor Inman delivered a talk titled, “Smart Structures for Bio-Inspired Morphing,” which presented “several unique uses of piezoceramic composites and shape memory alloys to achieve unique airfoil shapes.” Professor Inman will also be delivering a plenary talk at the 7th International Conference on Smart Materials and Nanotechnology in Engineering (SMN 2019) in Harbin, China from September 20-24.

Professor Inman’s research focuses on applying smart structures to solve aerospace engineering problems including energy harvesting, structural health monitoring, vibration suppression and morphing aircraft. He is a Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), the International Institute of Acoustics and Vibration (IIAV), the Society of Experimental Mechanics (SEM), the National Institute of Aerospace (NIA), and the American Academy of Mechanics (AAM).
